Theatre Courses offered at Beloit Memorial High School.
Performing Arts (1/2 credit)
Students in Performing Arts explore the basics of presentation and acting on the stage. Through workshopping scenes, the young actor will ideally learn to identify subtext in a script and use their voice and body to create emphasis and picturization on stage. Emphasis is placed on the following skills: Vocal Variety, Stage Movement, Concentration, Memorization, and Script & Character Analysis.
Advanced Acting (1/2 credit)
Picking up where Performing Arts left off, students in Advanced Acting take the basics and apply acting techniques and character-building strategies. Students learn a new strategy each week including Sense & Emotional Memory, Rhythm, Observation, Character Quirks, Energy Centers, and many more. Techniques used in this course stem from Stanislavski, Boleslavsky, Chekhov, Adler, Hagen, and Meisner.

Students in Theatre Arts will also actively participate in building a set for the fall play and spring musical, getting hands-on experience with construction equipment. This hands-on application of techniques is what makes this program's lessons concrete.
Theatre Crafts (1 credit)
Students in Theatre Crafts learn to safely and effectively use construction equipment and techniques, painting techniques, and maintenance. Students in Theatre Crafts actively participate in constructing the sets for both the fall play and spring musical.
